Branson, MO (PRWEB) April 4, 2006 — As the tourist season starts to heat up along with the weather here in this popular vacation spot, many Branson, Missouri, hotels are finding that more and more visitors prefer the convenience-and the space-of cabin or condominium rentals to standard Branson hotel rooms.
“Guests used to book adjoining rooms or suites when they wanted to have extra room to relax, and they still do to an extent,” said one hotel staffer. “But the longer they visit, the more likely they are to rent something with a kitchen, living room, separate bathrooms. All the comforts of home.”
Those features usually can’t be found in standard hotel rooms, and local developers know this. The recent growth of condominium and cabin rentals and their extension from a weekly-only offering to a per-night option for Branson, Missouri, lodging is a testament to market demands and builder savvy.
“Home away from home”
One such place that’s making the most of this trend is the Thousand Hills Golf Resort. Over the past several months, they’ve increased their total number of rooms by more than 15 percent as part of a development expansion. And tourists are already filling them up.
“We’re finding that families, and even couples, see their lodging choice as an integral part of their whole vacation experience,” Thousand Hills Manager Mark Ruda said. “They really want a home away from home where they can relax after a day of sightseeing, or even cook a meal before going out for the evening to see a show.”
Thousand Hills has seen their cabin and condominium rentals take off in recent years, and they don’t expect the trend to stop, since Branson’s entertainment options continue to grow and bring more visitors.
“The new Silver Dollar City rides expansion, the Branson Landing project, the new Branson Convention Center all mean great things for the city in terms or tourism, and we’re striving to continually meet visitor expectations,” Ruda noted.
A Family Affair
In many ways, Armando and Ely Perez are typical Branson visitors. “We love to ride the rides at Silver Dollar City, and love seeing all the great musical acts in town,” Ely says. But in other ways, they’re not so typical. “We’re from Miami, and most people there go to Disney or to the Caribbean on vacation,” she says.
Branson was a destination her mother wanted to visit, so they all came for the first time last year and stayed at Thousand Hills for an entire week. “It was really close to everything,” she said. “And my mother liked having her own room and being able to cook her own breakfast in the mornings. At the end of the day, it was more economical than staying in a hotel.”
The Perez family plans on coming back again this summer, only this time they’ll have cousins in tow as well. “We’re probably going to rent a larger condominium at Thousand Hills, or maybe some of their cabins for the older kids,” she said.
As overall and first-time visitor counts continue to trend upward, more and more Branson, Missouri lodging options will continue to give them what they want–and then some.
“We strive to make sure the guests see us as part of the Branson experience,” Ruda says. “We want them to consider Thousand Hills a part of their extended family.”
