Silver Dollar City brings back the same festivals year after year because they’re favorites with visitors, but they change things up each year by offering something new or different. From different bands playing live music to new cooking classes, Silver Dollar City’s festivals offer plenty of fun and entertainment for all.
The first festival for 2014 will take you around the world with music, dance, and ethnic cuisine. WorldFest brings the best of the world’s performers to one park from Apr. 5 – May 4 for amazing varied entertainment. Silver Dollar City will host Benise – The Spanish Guitar as he pushes the limits of Flamenco music, along with the Ukrainian Via Romen and Irish harpist Dearbhail Finnigan. Drum and aerial dance troupe Amamos Argentina returns, along with knife dancers from Island Fire.
Spring brings warm weather and the opportunity to spend time at the backyard grill, and Silver Dollar City combines great BBQ with amazing bluegrass entertainers. From May 8 – June 1, the Red Gold Heritage Hall will be serving up hot BBQ favorites in the House of BBQ, and don’t forget to stop by Bottle Neck Bros. Sauce Shack to sample over 200 savory sauces. Plus, you’ll get to hear from the Queen of Bluegrass and her band – Rhonda Vincent and the Rage. The Boxcars, Special Consensus, and Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver will also be making appearances during the festival. On May 24, Silver Dollar City will open the stage to the up-and-coming in bluegrass during the KSMU Youth in Bluegrass Band Contest.
The bluegrass festival’s cousin, the Southern Gospel Picnic, is also returning to Silver Dollar City in 2014 from Aug. 22 – Sep. 1. Remember the days of country churches with the Bowling Family, Triumphant Quartet, and more. While you’re enjoying the music, treat yourself to some good southern cooking at the House of Chicken and Fixin’s with options like apple-glazed chicken, hickory smoked chicken, or southern fried chicken with all the trimmings.
Possibly one of Silver Dollar City’s largest and best festival, National Harvest and Cowboy Festival brings over 125 craftsmen to the park for a visit from Sep. 12 – Oct. 25. In addition to old-time crafts, the Pinkerton Man Western Stunt Show returns for its third year. The Wild West Show returns with trick riders and ropers, Native American dancers, and more. Plus, an old favorite returns due to popular demand – the Western Barn Dance!
Last but certainly not least is An Old Time Christmas, which runs from Nov. 1 – Dec. 30, 2014. This holiday favorite is home to over 5 million sparkling lights, 1,000 lighted Christmas trees, Broadway-style productions, and an all-new Holly Jolly Christmas Light Parade. You can enjoy the rides, weather permitting, as well as seasonal treats like wassail, hot apple dumplings, and cinnamon ice cream.
So if you’re going to be in Branson this year, Silver Dollar City’s festivals are a great way to spend a day (or even two)! For more information about the park, festival dates, hours, and more, visit www.silverdollarcity.com.
