Sun and Sand at Moonshine Beach
When you think of vacation destinations that feature sunny, sandy beaches, Branson is probably not the first place that comes to mind. But you might be surprised to find that – on top of everything else fun to do – Branson really does have a beach! Moonshine Beach, located on the shores of Table Rock Lake, is the place to go for sandy summer fun.
For summer cookouts, college student get-togethers, scout trips and sunbathing excursions, Moonshine Beach is the place to go. The clean water and clearly defined cove area make it a popular place to swim. (Note: there is no lifeguard on duty, so follow safe swimming protocol and keep an eye on little ones)
The recreation area at Moonshine Beach offers a covered picnic pavilion that can accommodate up to seventy-five people at a time – perfect to reserve for big family reunions! Several other small picnic sites can be found around the beach, complete with covered tables and grills. Small children will love the playground equipment situated next to the pavilion! Moonshine Beach also features a volleyball court in the sand, a boat ramp, and a fully accessible restroom and shower facility.
If you get your fill of sun and sand at Moonshine Beach don’t worry – there are more fun activities nearby! The Dewey Short Visitors Center is just a short walk from the beach and makes for an interactive and educational tour. For folks wanting to explore the shoreline, they’re sure to enjoy hiking on the beautiful 2-mile Table Rock Lakeshore Trail.
Moonshine Beach is operated by a non-profit organization called Ozarks Rivers Heritage Foundation – your $5 per car fee to enter the recreation area goes back to maintaining the beach! There is no overnight camping at Moonshine Beach, as it is a day use only site.
Next time you get the urge to experience some sand and sun, you don’t have to travel to the coast – there is a big sandy beach right in Branson’s backyard!
