Silver Dollar city in Branson, Missouri wears a festive look during the Southern Gospel Picnic festival. Every year the gospel picnic is held in the last week of August and lasts for 10 days. This festival is America’s biggest Southern Gospel music festival.
During the festival, visitors will be treated to a variety of gospel music performances from world renowned gospel performers, both classic and new. At night, the Echo Hollow concert series will be held under the twinkling stars of the open sky for a gospel performance sure to cap off any day.
And what would a gospel picnic be without food? During the entire 10 day period, visitors are treated to a sumptuous southern classics at all the eateries in the park. Take the House of Chicken for example, where a variety of classic chicken recipes are served. Some of the varieties of chicken served include Apple-Glazed Chicken, Southern Fried Chicken and Hickory-smoked chicken along with mouth watering sides.
The festival’s not just for eating though, how about learning how to cook? At the Silver Dollar City Culinary and Craft School, you can learn new recipes from world famous chefs in a state of the art kitchen.
