Since the Branson Airport was completed in May 2009 they’ve been receiving flights from Airtran Airways. In 2010, Airtran was bought out by Southwest Airlines and Southwest recently announced they would be taking over flight operations at the Branson Airport.
To celebrate this major airline serving the Branson area the Branson Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a pep-rally as an opportunity for the community to show their support to the new airline as well as find out more information about what Southwest flights will be available from Branson. The pep rally will be taking place at 5 pm, August 27th at the fountains in the Branson Landing Square.
State officials will be in attendance to celebrate the expanded tourism available through this major airline partner, and many local entertainers will also be performing. In addition, there will be prize giveaways and drawings for many gifts including free airfare through the airport.
While Airtran Airways will continue operations throughout the year, by the first half of 2013 airport officials expect the transition to the familiar Blue & Red livery of Southwest Airlines to be complete and all of Airtran’s former operations will be under Southwest’s control.
Come out Monday evening and celebrate a major milestone in the development of the Branson and Ozarks area with a national presence from Southwest Airlines at the Branson Airport!
