The winery in Branson opened its 9,200-square-foot facility in April 2008. Visiting tourists has the chance to shop, sample numerous award-winning of Mt. Pleasant’s wines and can even request a bottle of wine of their own from a beautiful design of 600-galoon French oak barrel.
The Mount Pleasant Winery in Branson features wine tasting and daily winery tours. There is a $5 tasting fee for anyone interested in tasting wines. The winery also offers Wine 101 classes, where participants are taught how to pair wines with food and learn the intricacies of wine tasting. The fee for the class is $15 per person and scheduled at 2 p.m. on Wednesdays and 11 a.m. on Saturdays.
Mount Pleasant grows grapes on the hillsides that are not susceptible to frosts and floods. Hillside areas allow sun exposure and access to southeasterly breezes. Hillside farming involves agricultural techniques and provides the highest quality of grape fruits year in and year out. Vine tree takes five years to bear a full fruit production. To keep up the demand for wines, every year Mount Pleasant plants additional vines. The vines are grown using viticulture, a wine grape growing system that is economically viable, ecologically sound, and socially supportive.
The grapes in the Mount Pleasant vineyard are harvested during late summer. It is quickly transported to the crushing area and pressed into juice. When the juice is extracted, it will be transported through underground pipes to large tanks and to small barrels in the cellars. Some of the wine is placed in oak barrels to age, while some varieties will be placed in stainless tanks. Wines will be fermented with natural process of yeast that converts the fruit sugar into alcohol. This fermenting process may vary from three to sixty days, depending on variety, style, temperature, and yeast strains.
