Out of all the good lifestyle choices a person can make, eating healthy is probably one of the most important. In fact, most healthy lifestyle changes start with this one – eating real, fresh, nutritious foods helps you live longer, stay more active, and connect with the people around you. As important as healthy eating is, it can be hard to maintain when you are on vacation. You may not have the option to cook, or to run to your favorite health food store for snacks. But if you are vacationing in Branson, not to worry – there are many Branson dining options that can keep you eating healthy!
The Keeter Center: The Keeter Center at College of the Ozarks, located on the Point Lookout, MO, campus, features spectacular dining and excellent service from the students who work there – and did we mention it has plenty of healthy menu options? Many of the dishes served at The Keeter Center feature fresh, local, campus raised ingredients! College of the Ozarks raises their own beef and pork on student run farms just up the road from the college, and the animals are processed at the campus processing plant. College of the Ozarks also produces their own dairy products from their Holstein/Jersey herd. And finally, the campus vegetable gardens produce lots of tasty ingredients for use in The Keeter Center’s meals as well! It doesn’t get much fresher!
Vasken’s Deli: Vasken’s Deli, located off of Gretna Road, is a healthy Branson dining option that has amazing flavors and variety for all palates! The menu items are prepared with fresh, wholesome ingredients and the pricing is very reasonable for the amount of food in a given order. Appetizers such as hummus dip and Baba Ganoush (a refreshing eggplant dip) are a fun way to start off your meal. Pizzas, salads and cold cut sandwiches are some of the tasty menu items, but the Vasken’s Famous Gyros take the cake – it’s easy to see why they are famous! Featuring thinly sliced and spit roasted lamb and beef, fresh veggies and a tasty sauce all wrapped in warm pita bread, these delicious Greek sandwiches will have you hooked. The Firehouse Gyro is just as good as the Famous Gyro – it includes a creamy sauce with a kick and spicy giardiniera vegetables on top of the regular gyro ingredients. Side dishes include potato salads, Feta cheese and stuffed grape leaves.
Panera: Panera Bread, located on Green Mountain Drive (just up the road from Thousand Hills Hotel and Golf Resort) is a great healthy Branson dining option, especially for breakfast or lunch! Panera provides customers with the calorie counts of their menu items, and offers low fat and low calorie options that still pack the nutrients and the flavor; the Sierra Turkey sandwich, Caesar salad, and green smoothies are some of these great choices.
With these healthy Branson dining options, you don’t have to give up healthy eating during your vacation. You can have your healthy food and eat it too, thanks to great restaurants like these!
