Presley’s Country Jubilee – Branson MO’s Original Show on the Strip!
New! Presleys’ Country Jubilee is part of the Branson Platinum Experience, a Thousand Hills Exclusive!
Visitors from all over the country and the world come to Branson for a stellar entertainment experience. The Presleys Country Jubilee is just one of the shows that provides that experience as four generations of Presleys take the stage with a music and comedy.
The Presleys were the first to open a theater on the famous Highway 76. When Lloyd Presley picked up the guitar in 1934 at 10 years old, the Presleys legend began. He played in downtown Branson and landed in the Branson Beacon in the 1950s. In the 1960s, Lloyd’s son Gary created the loveable comedic character Herkimer, and still plays that character today. Lloyd and Gary started playing shows at Fantastic Caverns in Springfield, Missouri, and later played in the Underground Theater in Kimberling City, not far from Silver Dollar City. The family was playing shows in the caves of the Ozark Mountains, and in 1967 the Presleys took a “leap of faith” and bought a piece of land on “an isolated two-lane stretch of asphalt just outside of town.” That two-lane piece of asphalt would become home to the first live music theater on Highway 76 and bring the road its fame. The original theater held 363 lawn chairs and had air conditioning. Other theaters began popping up along Highway 76 after the Presleys, and the movement helped make the Strip the home of so many famous shows. The Baldknobbers, The Haygoods, Shoji Tabuchi, and many others have joined the ranks of the Presleys in Branson.
Nowadays, the Presleys Country Jubilee is known as Branson’s “Original Show on the Strip.” It gained attention in December 1991 when the television show 60 Minutes featured the city of Branson in a story. The Presleys appeared prominently in that story, and gained recognition. Since then, the Presleys have been featured on Regis and Kathie Lee, CBS’s “How’d They Do That?” and also on Paul Harvey’s “The Rest of the Story.” Four generations of Presleys are on stage for the famous show, performing a variety of country, gospel, and bluegrass music. Added to the mix is the hilarious comedy of Herkimer and Cecil, and so much talent from the cast, young and old.
