Southwest Airlines Comes to the Branson Airport

southwest-airlines-branson-terminalWhen the Branson Airport LLC opened on May 11, 2009, its mission was to make transportation for tourists and residents of the Branson area a little bit easier. With the addition of Southwest Airlines flights to the already numerous flights at the Branson Airport, this mission is stretched just a little bit farther.

Before Southwest Airlines, the Branson Airport was “serviced by AirTran Airways, Frontier Airlines, and Branson AirExpress allowing passengers the ability to access over 100 destinations all on low cost carriers,” Branson Airport said in a press release.

Now with Southwest joining the Branson Airport family, the opportunities for travel destination have significantly increased. According to a Branson Airport press release, Southwest Airlines serves 73 cities in 38 states and is one of the most honored airlines in the world known for its commitment to the triple bottom line of performance, people, and planet. Southwest Airlines is based out of Dallas, and operates with more than 46,000 employees and conducts more than 3,400 flights a day.

“We’re looking forward to extending the Southwest Airlines route map to Branson next year,” said Pete Houghton, Southwest Airlines Senior Director of Airport Affairs.

Southwest will serve the Branson community by offering three daily nonstop flights to Dallas Love Field, Houston Hobby, and Chicago Midway, with additional Saturday-only nonstop service to Orlando, Southwest stated in a press release. Southwest Airlines and the Branson Airport are an excellent fit for each other because of their heart for service. The Branson Airport in known for its unparalleled customer service, and Southwest Airlines differentiates “itself from other low-fare carriers” by “offering a reliable product with exemplary Customer Service,” Branson Airport said.

“We are thrilled with the news that we will have Southwest Airlines’ red-bellied aircraft touching down in Branson,” said Jeff Bourk, Executive Director of the Branson Airport. “Southwest Airlines presence in this region will do enormous things for the economic development of the entire Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas area.”

Currently, the Branson Airport has outgoing and incoming flights from hundreds of connections, and continues to bring new guests to the Branson area every day.The airport is located just south of Branson in the Ozark foothills.
