Many folks have fond memories of riding on Ferris Wheels at county fairs and town carnivals, or at amusement parks. There is something thrilling about being up so high and getting a bird’s eye view of the world! And now, those thrills are coming to Branson, with the addition of the old Navy Pier Ferris Wheel!
This famous Ferris Wheel opened on the Chicago Navy Pier in 1995, and has been the site of wonderful memories for hundreds upon hundreds of folks for twenty years. In September of 2015, the 150 foot Ferris Wheel with 16,000 lights that can hold up to 240 passengers was taken down in order to make a site for a bigger wheel. At that time, The Track Family Fun Parks here in Branson made the decision to purchase the wheel and give it a new home – and a new view! – here in Branson. It took 26 semi trucks over a four-day period to get the famed wheel from Chicago to Branson, but it has arrived and construction is underway!
The Branson Ferris Wheel will be situated right along Highway 76, and will give riders a stellar view of the heart of Branson and the beautiful skyline of the Ozark Mountains. The Track hopes to have the wheel ready to rock by Memorial Day weekend, and the opening of this new Branson family attraction will coincide with the 35th year anniversary of The Track parks. The Branson Ferris Wheel was a $2.5 million investment for The Track, but its move to Branson is already attracting international attention.
The Branson Ferris Wheel is just one of the new and exciting family attractions that will be introduced this summer. Don’t miss a chance to take a ride on this national landmark that now calls Branson home!
