The Super Summer Cruise at Shepherd of the Hills is easily one of the most anticipated annual events in Branson. This Branson car cruise has been growing every year and this year organizers expect more than 500 classic cars, trucks, hot rods and more to be on display. The Super Summer cruise begins tonight, August 9th and runs through Saturday August 11th, 2012. To plan your visit to the car show & cruise, here is a quick schedule of events.
Thursday, August 9 & 10th – From 7 am to 5 pm vehicles will be arriving at the Shepherd of the Hills homestead for registration. Starting at 8, the Show & Shine will begin as the car owners make prep their pride & joy for judging, which begins at 9 am. All throughout the day owners can have their car photos taken at the Trails End Gift Shop. At 8:30 pm on the 10th, all car show registrants can enjoy their free voucher for the Shepherd of the Hills outdoor drama.
Saturday, August 11 – Once again the gates open at 7 am and close at 1 pm for anyone wanting to register their vehicle for the cruise. From 8 to 5 the Show & Shine will continue and visitors can get a look at several decades of automotive history put on display at the historic Shepherd of the Hills homestead. The tough job of judging these cars will finish at 11:00 am. From 11 am to noon there will be a performance by “The Premiere Cloggers Dance Troup”. They’ve performed at the show previously and put on a great performance. From 4 pm to 5:30 pm, Best in Show awards will be given at the Pavilion Theatre. Immediately following the cruise drivers will be briefed on the cruise rules & guidelines. At midnight, the Super Summer Cruise will begin!
The Super Summer Cruise is the crown jewel and the most unique aspect of this car show. Want to know how anticipated it is? This year there were already people with lawn chairs staking out the prime viewing spots along the cruise route–5 days early! And why not? How many chances do you get to see more than 500 impeccably cared for representatives of America’s Automotive History drive by on a warm summer night? This year the cruise will take place along Shepherd of the Hills Expressway, beginning at the intersection of Highway 76, “The Strip”, and heading east to Roark Valley Road. This 1.5+ mile cruise will be lined with people long before the midnight kickoff, so be sure and get there early to find the prime spot to view your automotive favorite. And don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs if you have them!
Summer may be nearing the end, but the Branson Car Show and Super Summer Cruise is a fantastic way to have one more weekend. Like most of this summer, the forecast calls for warm weather and no chance of rain. And this is one weekend where we’re ok with a dry forecast.
