Lake Activities for Every Taste
One of the highlights of Branson, Missouri, the Live Entertainment Capital of the Midwest is undoubtedly the lakes. Branson is not often referred to as ‘the Branson/Tri-Lakes area for nothing’ – there are indeed three great lakes here that make Branson even more exciting than it is already! Table Rock Lake (named after a large, flat rock structure on the lake shore), Lake Taneycomo (short for Taney County Missouri) and Bull Shoals (part of this lake is also located in Arkansas) are all loaded with opportunities for you to get adventurous – no matter what your tastes are, there is a lake and some Branson lake activities for you to enjoy!
Table Rock Lake: Table Rock Lake has loads of fun activities, whether you are a local who heads to the lake often, or a visitor who only stops by once or twice a year. Table Rock Lake is best known for its awesome fishing – in fact, there are nationally recognized bass fishing tournaments held here annually! Whether you are a tournament fisherman, or just like to sit on the shore and dangle a line, the fish are always biting in the waters of Table Rock. Table Rock Lake also boasts a state park complete with its own marina with boats for hire, a boat dock, hiking trails, and picnic areas. And if swimming is your thing, you will want to check out Moonshine Beach – it’s the only place in the Ozarks with sand!
Lake Taneycomo: While Lake Taneycomo might be a little cold for diving in and taking a swim, there are plenty of other great Branson lake activities to enjoy here. Instead of donning a swimming suit, grab some waders instead and partake in some of the best trout fishing around! Lake Taneycomo is home to rainbow and brown trout, and the cooler water temperatures make it the perfect habitat for these sought after fish. Lake Taneycomo also has the benefit of being the host body of water to the Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery! Not only is it a great place to explore and learn about the trout, the lake and the surrounding area and wildlife, but it makes the fishing right below the dam pretty good too…
Bull Shoals: For a really unique activity, how about going IN the lake instead of on or beside it? That’s right, for the REALLY adventurous lake goers, Bull Shoals Lake offers some of the most unique scuba dive tours around. At the Bull Shoals Lake Boat Dock, you can take a scuba diving class from P.A.D.I certified trainers, take a daytime OR nighttime guided boat diving trip, and even learn how to become a search and recovery scuba diver! You can rent or purchase your scuba diving equipment from the Bull Shoals Lake Boat Dock, and group charter rates are available.
Whether you like to just get your feet wet, or if you are the kind of person who just dives right in, there are Branson lake activities waiting for you on any of these great lakes!
