The 15th Hollister Fall Grape Festival is a big annual event that will be held in Downing Street in the city of Hollister. This annual event welcomes thousands of visitors to see the wonderful time of grape stomping during Branson fall. Another annual event to be held on October 31, 2014 during Branson fall is the Monster Mash Street Dance hosted by Branson Landing. The wonderful street dance event starts at 6:30pm and party continues after 8:30 pm. The Annual Hollister Grape and Fall Festival is presented by the Hollister Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Hollister which is held in Downing Street in the historic downtown Hollister on October 11, 2014 from 10 am to 6pm. This grape and fall festival features great food, children’s activities, crafts, live music, and entertainment from some of Branson’s world famous performers, and a wine tasting garden. The world famous Grape Stomp competition which highlights the event is sponsored by Branson Ridge Winery, where teams compete to win the Ugly Monkey Trophy.
This annual fall festival is one of the most popular events in the region where number of visitors exceeded 5,000 people from previous years. In this year’s fall season, the grape and fall festival promises to be the most interesting and well-attended event ever. The most anticipated event of the year in Hollister this fall season is the Grape Stomp competition. Stomping teams are clad in unique costumes. Judging the competition are toga-clad local elected officials together with Hollister Mayor David Tate. There will be five teams that will be competing this year for the award. During the competition, the teams are encouraged to influence the judge’s favor with pies, baked goods, and other treats.
This grape stomping at the Grape Fall Festival is a celebration of 100 year history of Hollister. In the early days of transporting agricultural products, Hollister was an important stop during fall season when people brought agricultural products and other goods to Hollister for transportation to other places with larger markets. Hollister’s centennial celebration was in 2010. Up to this time, there are still plenty of events being planned to commemorate the important milestone in Hollister’s history.
The Fall Grape Festival features a 12-mile bike ride that starts at 7:30 am. The riders will leave from Chad A. Fuqua Memorial Park in downtown Hollister at 8:00 am and will go through Hollister to Branson Creek and back. The main event of the festival is scheduled from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. The event features great food, crafts, and live music from some of the best performers on historic Downing Street in downtown Hollister.
